Update from Landmark on the potential risks of the recent spam attacks

WannaCrypt/WCry is a ransom-ware worm that can attack most versions of Windows. It has made headlines by catching out various large organisations such as the NHS.

End-users and small companies need not panic as Microsoft issued a patch for all supported versions of Windows back in March; so make sure Windows Update is enabled and up to date.

Due to the intensity of the attacks last week, they have also just released a patch for the otherwise unsupported Windows XP, Server 2003 and Windows 8.

If you are using an non-supported version of Windows or you want more information then go to the following page for guidance:  https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/news/latest-statement-international-ransomware-cyber-attack-0

As always the most important action you can take is to ensure that ALL your data is backed up (ie including documents, spreadsheets, contacts etc as well as your accounts and payroll data ) To assist you we provide an automated encrypted back up service for a small monthly fee to protect your data.
